This survey is very important to determine geotechnical characteristics such as soil carrying capacity, soil layer type, hard soil depth, N-SPT value, soil physical and mechanical properties, groundwater level, and potential geotechnical risks.

Geotechnical surveys can be applied to the needs of construction of buildings, jetties, ports, reclamation, roads, bridges, pipelines, underground cables, structural foundations, slope stability, and land and coastal infrastructure work.

Methods of work may include soil boring, Standard Penetration Test (SPT), Cone Penetration Test (CPT/Sondir), soil sampling, soil laboratory test, trial pit, and investigation of soil conditions in the field.

Services Hydrography Survey used to measure, map, and analyze the condition of the water floor such as seas, rivers, lakes, canals, port areas, and offshore areas. This survey aims to find out the depth of the waters, the morphology of the seabed/river, the contours of bathymetry, underwater features, and the conditions of the water floor required for the planning and implementation of marine engineering work.

Hydrography Survey is essential to support the work port construction, jetty, reclamation, dredging, pipeline/cable route survey, shipping navigation, flow inspection, offshore construction, coastal engineering, and monitoring changes in the water floor.

Survey methods may include bathymetry survey, single beam echosounder survey, multibeam echosounder survey, side scan sonar survey, sub-bottom profiler survey, tidal observations, and positioning using GNSS/DGPS/RTK.

Services Aerial Photogrammetry / LiDAR Survey used to obtain fast, detailed, and accurate data on the earth's surface using aerial vehicles such as drone/UAV or survey aircraft. This survey aims to generate spatial data in the form of orthophoto, Digital Surface Model (DSM), Digital Terrain Model (DTM), point cloud, contour, topographic map, and 3D model of survey area.

Methods Aerial Photogrammetry using aerial photographs processed into maps and 3D models, while LiDAR Survey using laser sensors to record millions of surface coordinate points, including the ability to penetrate certain vegetation to obtain better ground surface information.

This service is very useful for topographic mapping, infrastructure planning, construction monitoring, calculation of cut and fill volumes, reclamation, mining, plantations, pipelines/cables, road corridors, coastal areas, and large-scale area mapping.

Topographic Survey services are used to measure, map, and analyze ground-surface conditions in detail. The survey obtains horizontal positions, elevations, contours, boundaries, existing conditions, and important site features such as roads, buildings, drainage, utilities, vegetation, rivers, and other objects.

Topographic surveys are essential for infrastructure planning, road and bridge design, industrial estates, ports, reclamation, pipelines, site development, building construction, mining, plantations, and fieldwork monitoring.

PT. Eser Geosurvey Indonesia was entrusted by PT Wahyu Samudera Indah to execute the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) consultancy services for an integrated Coal Handling System at the WSI Port Terminal, located in Tebat Patah Village, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. This engineering design was developed to optimize coal transshipment operations from truck delivery fleets to river barges in an effective, integrated, and safe manner.

The technical FEED planning designed an integrated coal handling system capable of operating harmoniously alongside the existing terminal wharf plan (a multipurpose/container terminal facility). The system encompasses a dedicated coal storage area (stockpile), trucking receiving circuits, reclaim feeder reclaimers, and conveyor distribution routes leading to a barge-loading conveyor (shiploader) to service 250, 270, and 300-foot coal barges along the Batanghari River.

Muaro Jambi, 2024 – Drafting activities Detail Engineering Design; (DED) for the construction of WSI Terminal port facilities in the Muaro Jambi region has been successfully completed in accordance with the targets set. This project is an important part in supporting the development of transportation and logistics infrastructure in the Muaro Jambi area, in order to improve connectivity and efficiency of the distribution of goods and services.

The implementation of this DED work includes various important stages, ranging from field data collection, topographic surveys, hydrographic surveys, to technical analysis and comprehensive port facility design planning. The survey was conducted using modern technology such as the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) RTK method and the use of Total Station to obtain accurate and high-precision data. In addition, a bathymetry survey was also conducted to determine the condition of the water depth as the basis for dock planning and shipping lanes.

All data obtained were then processed and analyzed to produce an optimal technical design, including dock planning, ship berth areas, terminal support facilities, and other supporting infrastructure. The aspects of safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability are the main considerations in the preparation of this design.

The project ran smoothly thanks to good coordination between the technical team, consultants, and other related parties. Challenges in the field, such as geographical conditions and weather, can be overcome with careful planning and team experience in handling similar projects.

With the completion of this final DED report, it is hoped that the construction of the WSI Muaro Jambi Terminal port facility can be realized immediately and have a positive impact on regional economic growth. Adequate port infrastructure will open investment opportunities, improve logistics flows, and strengthen Muaro Jambi's position as one of the strategic areas in the maritime sector.

The survey work was carried out as part of the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for retrofitting and Jetty Vessel General design at PT Sinarmas LDA Maritime facility located at Batang Kuantan River, Kempas District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The survey was conducted to provide detailed primary data on the condition of the waters and the environment surrounding the development plan as the basis for technical planning and design.

Scope of work includes bathymetric surveys, tidal measurements, river current and discharge measurements, RTK and photogrammetry surveys, and basic sediment and water sampling. A bathymetry survey was conducted on the surrounding area 20 Ha with a scale of 1:1,000 using Single Beam Echosounder, equipped with tidal measurements for depth correction.

Hydrodynamic data were obtained through current measurement using ADCP at two locations as well as river discharge measurements. Meanwhile, the investigation of the basic material conditions was carried out through sediment sampling at three points to grain size analysis, as well as water sampling at three points and several depths for analysis Total Suspended Solids (TSS).

To complete hydrographic data in areas not accessible to the vessel, measurements were made RTK and drone photogrammetry to generate elevation data and Digital Elevation Model (DEM). All data are then integrated to produce an overview of the existing conditions of river and jetty areas as engineering baseline for the design of DPT and Jetty Vessel General.

Occupation Integrated Topographic and Geotechnical Site Investigation at VillaBiu-Biu, Bali, has been successfully completed in 2023. This project is implemented to Times International as part of site investigation to support the management of potential landslides in cliff areas as well as the provision of technical data for preliminary engineering design slope, pavement and building reinforcement work.

The implementation of the work includes Bathymetry Survey use Single-Beam Echosounder (SBEs), Topography Survey, Drone Mapping (Aerial Photogrammetry), Geo-Electrical SurveyAnd, Geodetic Observation. All survey activities are designed to obtain comprehensive information on the topography, subsurface characteristics, and geometry of coastal areas as a basis for technical analysis and infrastructure planning.

The work stage begins with the preparation and mobilization of personnel and survey equipment, followed by the construction Geodetic Control Network, installation of survey systems, as well as field data acquisition. Topography Survey and Drone Mapping carried out to produce detailed models of surface and contour areas, while Bathymetry Survey used to map the morphology of the water floor around the cliffs. Geo-Electrical Survey implemented to identify subsurface conditions, including variations in soil and rock layers that affect slope stability.

Through the integration of all survey methods, comprehensive spatial and geotechnical information on the existing conditions of land and coastal areas was obtained. The data generated forms the basis in site assessment, evaluation of potential slope instability, as well as preparation of preliminary engineering design Work Name: ………………………………….. slope stabilization, pavement design, and construction of structures in cliff areas.

Abirama Prinsipa Indonesia, Reconsult, and PLN Nusantara Power (PLN-NP) as part of providing technical data to support engineering design, site investigation, as well as infrastructure development in the Karangkates Reservoir area.

The implementation of the work includes Bathymetry Survey use Single-Beam Echosounder (SBEs), Topography Survey, Soil Investigation, Geodetic ObservationAnd, Sub-Bottom Profiling (SBP). All survey activities are designed to obtain comprehensive information on surface and subsurface conditions, resulting in accurate data as a basis for technical analysis and infrastructure planning.

The work stage begins with the preparation and mobilization of personnel and survey equipment, followed by the construction of the network Geodetic Control, installation of survey systems, as well as navigation settings and field data acquisition. A bathymetry survey was conducted to map the baseline morphology of the reservoir, while Topography Survey implemented to obtain the existing conditions of the land area around the work site. Soil Investigation carried out to identify the geotechnical characteristics of subsurface soils, while Sub-Bottom Profiling (SBP) is used to interpret the thickness of the sediment as well as the condition of the bottom layer of the water floor.

Through the integration of all survey methods, complementary spatial and geotechnical information was obtained, ranging from topographical conditions, reservoir base morphology, soil characteristics, to subsurface sedimentary structures. The resulting data becomes a reliable basis in site assessment, evaluation of existing conditions, and preparation of engineering design at a later stage of development.

A hydro-oceanographic survey was conducted to support the development plan Special Terminals (TUKS) in the waters of Sungai Berau, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. The work is focused on collecting data on the basic conditions of waters and water level characteristics in Siduhung River and Kiyani River as a basis for port area planning and navigation needs.

The scope of work includes: bathymetry survey using Singlebeam Echosounder (SBES) in the surrounding area 1,277 Ha with a main lane interval of 50 m, the measurement main tide for 15 days at 2 stations, secondary tides for 1 day at 2 stations, as well as depth validation at 5 observation points using the barcheck and handload methods.

Tidal data were analyzed using Admiralty Method to obtain tidal characteristics, harmonic constant, water level elevation, and Mean Sea Level (MSL) as a reference for correction of bathymetry data. Bathymetry data is then processed into depth information for MSL to describe the basic conditions of the waters in the survey area.  

In addition to hydro-oceanographic surveys, the work also includes geodetic measurement and determination of control points/benchmarksAnd, topographic survey using photogrammetry in an area of about 40 Ha with 10 Ground Control Points (GCP).

Occupation Meteorological and Hydrological Survey implemented to support the development of Photovoltaic (PV) Plant /IKN Nusantara PLTS in Pemaluan, Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan. This survey aims to provide meteorological and hydrological data as the basis engineering design, flood risk assessment, drainage planning, and management stormwater in the PLTS area.

Scope of work includes Meteorological Survey, Hydrological Survey in substation and PV plant areas, as well as analysis of climate conditions, rainfall, runoff, flooding, and inundation. Meteorological data includes temperature, precipitation, humidity, duration of solar irradiation, wind speed and direction, and climatic characteristics based on historical data from the nearest meteorological station.

Hydrological analysis was performed to identify catchment and sub-catchment areaflow characteristics, as well as flood parameters with various return period. Hydrological and hydraulic modeling using EPA SWMM and HEC-RAS used to evaluate runoff discharge and potential puddles in the PLTS area. The results of the analysis showed the potential for inundation in flood conditions for the 100-year anniversary period, with the affected area around 6.33 ha.

In addition to hydrological analysis, the work includes Wind Rose Analysis, Atmospheric Corrosivity Assessment, and Earthquake Analysis to provide an overview of environmental conditions that can affect the design and operation of PLTS facilities. The results of the study were also used to compile Drainage System Design and Stormwater Management Plan, including runoff control, flood prevention, erosion control, and water quality management.

Based on the results of hydrological and hydraulic modeling, drainage and stormwater management system recommendations were made to improve facility security against extreme rainfall events. The study recommends the elevation of PLTS facilities above 69 m to reduce the risk of inundation as well as the development of an integrated drainage system from the tertiary channel to the main channel.

This activity is a bathymetry and hydro-oceanography survey conducted to support jetty planning as a supporting facility for Sekotok PLTU, BatamWith PT. Batamindo Green Perkasa as the project owner and PT. Indotek Consultant Utama as a consultant. The location of the power plant and jetty plans is in the waters Sekotok Island, Batam, about 25 km south of Batam City.

The survey was conducted to obtain data on water conditions as the basis for planning and construction of docks and ship navigation routes. The scope of work includes benchmark determination, bathymetric survey, tidal measurement, current measurement, wave analysis based on wind data, basic sediment sampling, and water sampling for TSS analysis.

Bathymetry survey covering the surrounding area 700 Ha, consisting of a 1:1,000 scale detail area of 153 Ha around the jetty plan and a 1:5,000 scale area of 547 Ha for the port flow plan. Measurements using Single Beam Echosounder with positioning system DGPS-RTK.

Occupation Bathymetry and Hydro-Oceanographic Survey at Tanjung Batu, Belitung, Bangka Belitung Islands, carried out in 2024 to support planning and development docks and Smelter Grade Alumina facilities. This project is carried out to PT. Green Indonesia Alumina with PT. Indotek Consultant Utama as a consultant.

The survey was carried out to obtain comprehensive technical data on water conditions and the environment surrounding the location of the dock construction plan. The scope of work includes Bathymetry Survey use Single-Beam Echosounder (SBEs), Geodetic Observation, Tidal Measurement, Current Measurement, Wave Hindcasting, Sediment Sampling and AnalysisAnd, Water Sampling and TSS Analysis.

Bathymetry survey covers a total area of approximately 650 Ha, which consists of a 1:1,000 scale detail area of 95 Ha around the planned jetty and trestle, as well as a 1:5,000 scale area of 555 Ha for the port flow corridor. Data acquisition was carried out with DGPS-RTK, with intervals mainline 10m and crossline 100m in the detail area, as well as 50m and 500m in the port groove area.

In addition to bathymetry mapping, Tidal Measurement for 15 days to determine tidal characteristics and Chart DatumAnd, Current Measurement use ADCP under the condition of SPRING and neap. Historical wind data were also analyzed through Wave Hindcasting to obtain wave recurrence characteristics and periods as inputs for the determination of structural design conditions. Basic sediment and water sampling was carried out to support the characterization of the basic material and the concentration Total Suspended Solids (TSS).

Integration of all survey results resulted in baseline data engineering which describes the condition of bathymetry, tides, currents, waves, as well as sediment characteristics and water quality around the site. The data is used as a basis in engineering assessmentPlanning jetty, as well as the design and evaluation of channel navigation to support the development of Smelter Grade Alumina facilities in Tanjung Batu.

Occupation Hydro-Oceanographic Survey at Berau River, Tanjung Redeb, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, has been successfully completed in 2024. This project is implemented to support feasibility studies and development planning Dedicated Terminal along the Berau River, including evaluation of shipping lanes, docking ponds, and supporting facilities capable of accommodating large-sized vessel operations.

Scope of work includes Bathymetry Survey use Single-Beam Echosounder (SBEs) to the extent ±80 km the channel of the Berau River, Topographic Survey use Drone Aerial Photogrammetry, Geodetic Control Network through development Benchmark (BM) and Ground Control Point (GCP), Tidal Observation during 29 daysAnd, Sediment Sampling for the characterization of base sediment and suspended sediment. All survey activities are designed to produce comprehensive hydrographic, geospatial, and oceanographic data as a basis for technical analysis and infrastructure planning.

The stages of work began with the construction of a geodetic control network as a horizontal and vertical reference, followed by a bathymetric survey to map the morphology of the riverbed and identify the depth of the shipping channel. Topographic surveys are conducted using technology UAV Photogrammetry to produce a model of the surface and contour of the terminal plan area, while tidal observations are carried out continuously to determine Chart Datum and make elevation corrections to bathymetry data. In addition, sediment sampling was carried out to evaluate the characteristics of riverbed materials that affect navigation and terminal facility development.

Through the integration of all survey methods, comprehensive information on hydrographic, topographical, geodetic, tidal, and sedimentary conditions along the Berau River corridor was obtained. Occupation Geophysical Survey of Magnetometers and Sub-Bottom Profiling (SBP) carried out on the waters Wates Village, Lekok District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java, to the north of the Grati Indonesia Power Plant. This survey aims to detect and identify the presence of materials/metals as well as structures and subsurface seabed, including indications of the presence of pipelines within the survey area.

The scope of work includes: magnetometer and Sub Bottom Profiling survey with a total trajectory of about 260 nautical miles. Magnetometer data acquisition was carried out using Geometrics G-882 Magnetometer, while the SBP survey used Syqwest Stratabox HD 10 kHz. Navigation and positioning system using GPS RTK with NTRIP method that integrates with software Hypack.  

Surveys are designed with key trajectory intervals 25 m and crosswalks of each 250 m, covering the surrounding area 3.85 km × 3 km. SBP data is used to interpret subsurface layer conditions and pipeline indications, while magnetometer data is used to identify magnetic anomalies that can indicate the presence of metal objects.

Occupation Survey at RU IV Pertamina Cilacap, Central Java, has been successfully completed as part of the stages Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for development LNG Terminal. This project was carried out to provide high-accuracy geospatial and hydrographic data as the basis for planning the construction of facilities refinery plant and Jetty.

The implementation of the work includes Bathymetry Survey use Multibeam Echosounder (MBES), Topography Survey, Geodetic Observation through development Benchmark (BM) and binding to the network CORSAnd, Tidal Observation to obtain tidal characteristics as a vertical reference of the survey. All activities are designed to produce comprehensive spatial data on land and water conditions in the LNG terminal area.

In 2023PT Eser Geosurvey Indonesia carry out Water Intake Survey for PT Meulaboh Power Generation (MPG) in the area PLTU Nagan Raya Unit 3-4, Aceh. This project aims to evaluate the existing conditions Water intake and obtain accurate hydrographic information as a basis for assessing the feasibility of a seawater extraction system (seawater intake) for the operation of the power plant. The scope of work includes the measurement of elevation of head water intake, bathymetric survey, tidal observation, as well as the construction geodetic control network to ensure all data has a precise reference of position and elevation.

The bathymetry survey was conducted using Single Beam Echosounder By method DGPS-RTK so as to produce high-accuracy seabed depth data. Measurement covers the surrounding area 200 hectares around the intake structure with a tightly intervaled survey route to obtain a detailed representation of seabed morphology. All depth data were corrected using tidal observations and process bar check calibration conforms to international hydrographic survey standards, resulting in reliable seabed models for technical analysis needs.

Overview

PT. Eser Geosurvey Indonesia executed a comprehensive hydro-oceanographic, marine meteorological (metocean), and environmental baseline survey in Mangkupadi, East Tanjung Palas, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. The study was designed to acquire high-resolution, primary field data to support engineering feasibility studies, wharf structural design, coastal process evaluations, and numerical sediment transport modeling.

The offshore and coastal investigation integrated terrestrial, nearshore, and open-sea studies through modern oceanographic instrumentation meeting international standards. Key equipment deployments included an automated coastal weather station, bottom-mounted acoustic profilers for wave and current measurement across depth layers, high-precision digital tide gauges, seabed grab samplers, and multi-parameter CTD profilers for simultaneous water-column stratification analysis.

Project Preparation & Field Execution Workflow

• Team Mobilization & Site Setup (Late July 2022):

  Field personnel and equipment were mobilized in two logistical stages from Jakarta to Mangkupadi via Tarakan. The advance team coordinated regional and local stakeholder permits, secured local workboats, established the field camp, and prepped assembly accessories and instrument housings.

• Fabrication & Installation of Coastal Weather Station (Early August 2022):

  A 10-meter meteorological observation tower was fabricated in a local workshop and erected on an open shoreline. Secured by cast concrete footings and four-way guy wires to withstand coastal winds, the station was equipped with a Davis Vantage Pro unit to log hourly wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, and rainfall continuously over three months.

• Deployment of Bottom-Mounted Acoustic Instruments (ADCP & AWAC):

  An Acoustic Wave and Current Profiler (Nortek AWAC 600 kHz) and an Aquadopp ADCP were mounted on custom seabed seabed frames. Professional dive teams ensured stable underwater positioning safe from fishing activity to measure significant wave heights, peak periods, wave direction, and current velocity vectors across the water column.

• Automated Tidal Observation (16 Days):

  Tidal stations were installed in shallow water using Valeport TideMaster pressure-sensor units recording at 10-minute intervals. Measured sea-surface elevations were referenced directly to nearby terrestrial geodetic Benchmarks (BM) via optical levelling runs.

• Seabed Sediment Sampling (50 Stations):

  Surficial seabed material was recovered across 50 planned stations along the wharf and approach-channel corridors using a Van Veen Grab Sampler. All samples were sealed in airtight, coordinate-labeled containers for geotechnical laboratory testing, particle size distribution, and grain size analysis.

• 24-Hour Cycle Water Quality & CTD Profiling (15 Days):

  Vertical profiling of physical and chemical water properties was conducted at two-hour intervals across spring and neap tidal cycles using a Valeport Mini CTD profiler. The survey mapped depth-dependent gradients in temperature, salinity, electrical conductivity, seawater density, and acoustic sound velocity.

• Demobilization & Data Analytics (November 2022):

  Subsea instrument retrieval and meteorological mast decommissioning were completed by November 7, 2022. The survey team demobilized to Jakarta to carry out quality control, spatial database compilation, and final engineering reporting.

• Water Column Stratification (CTD Profiles): Vertical profiles displaying variations in temperature, salinity, conductivity, density, and sound velocity throughout the water column.
• Comprehensive Site Survey Technical Report: An integrated engineering document synthesizing all metocean and marine baseline findings to inform the detailed engineering design of the wharf and related marine facilities.

PT. Eser Geosurvey Indonesia carried out a comprehensive geotechnical site investigation to support the engineering design and EPC development of a dedicated 15,000 DWT terminal jetty for PT. Sebuku Iron Lateritic Ores (SILO) in Tanjung Lita, Sebuku Island, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan. The jetty facility was planned to facilitate integrated marine transportation and logistics for lateritic iron ore operations.

The nearshore and coastal geotechnical investigation involved core drilling down to 40 meters below the ground/seabed level, continuous Standard Penetration Testing (SPT), and the retrieval of both Undisturbed Samples (UDS) and Disturbed Samples (DS) deployed from dedicated marine pontoon setups. Comprehensive laboratory soil mechanics testing was executed to determine both index and engineering properties of the subsoil. The resulting geotechnical parameters directly informed axial and lateral single-pile bearing capacity evaluations, punching shear analyses, and foundation structural engineering recommendations, providing reliable, engineering-oriented baseline data for marine terminal construction.
